What to do this weekend - Showcasing Val-Saint-François

Publié le 2 août 2017

Tourism Val-Saint-François has come up with some great ideas – even last minute ones! – for the weekend of August 4-6.

Snack ‘n’ stroll - the perfect way to spend a Sunday

The Moulin à laine, a historic woollen mill in Ulverton, is known for its Sunday brunch and few things are more pleasant than tucking into a good meal - inside the mill or outside on the terrace, to the sound of running water. The décor of the early 19th century building makes the dining experience even more special!

There are two sittings (10am and 12:30pm) and reservations are recommended. After brunch, you can work off the calories by exploring the mill or strolling along the network of trails bordering the Ulverton River. For further details, visit moulin.ca.

Visit a donkey farm!

Take a trip to Asinerie les ânes en culottes, a donkey farm in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle. Situated in the foothills of Mont Orford not far from Sherbrooke, Magog and Granby, the donkey farm is an ideal spot for spending an afternoon with friends or family. Picnic sites, an interpretation trail, a petting farm and the donkey breeding area are open every day and there is no entrance fee. Guided tours are also offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

This unique farm is well worth a visit, even if you just make time to pop into the boutique where you’ll find handmade soaps and cosmetics made with donkey milk.

And looking ahead to September….

The Randonnée gourmande du Val-Saint-François returns!

Building on the success of the first edition last year, the second Randonnée gourmande du Val-Saint-François will return on September 17. This unique event combines a 10-kilometre guided walk with gourmet food, and it takes place between the scenic municipalities of Kingsbury and Melbourne Township.

There are four stops along the way (including lunch) which allow participants to meet some fifteen local food producers and sample their products. It’s an activity that appeals to all kinds of people – singles, couples, families or friends - who enjoy combining their passion for food with a bracing walk in the fresh air!

For more information and to register for the Randonnée gourmande visit Tourism Val-Saint-François. The fee is $40 per person. It includes the guided walk, food samplings, a festive lunch at the Melbourne farmer’s market, parking and a shuttle bus service.

Make a reservation now for what promises to be a memorable gourmet experience!
