J. Armand Bombardier Museum - Open door weekends : February 12-14 and February 19-21

Valcourt, January 26, 2010 – During Valcourt’s Grand Prix Ski-Doo® and the festivities surrounding this family-oriented winter festival, the J. Armand Bombardier Museum will open its doors, free of charge, throughout the weekends of February 12-14 and February 19-21. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover (or rediscover!) the renowned Quebecois inventor, Joseph-Armand Bombardier. As in previous years, many fun activities are planned for the month of February.

Presenting the exciting, new Ski-Doo® snowmobiles for 2011!

Visitors will be delighted to learn that From February 12-21, the Museum will show a selection of new model Ski-Doo® snowmobiles for 2011. If you’re curious about future developments for Quebec’s exciting snow machines, you certainly won’t want to miss those! There’s something for nostalgia buffs too. Turn back the clock during special screenings of former Grand Ski-Doo® races in Mr. Bombardier’s original Garage (February 12-21). Reliving snowmobile races dating back to the 1960s!

Antique snowmobile collectors

On Saturday February 13, the Rassemblement des collectionneurs de motoneiges antiques (Gathering of antique snowmobile collectors) are once more making an appearance! After a parade starting at 11am, the collectors will gather in front of the Museum. We invite you to come and admire their vintage snowmobiles and to talk to the owners about their amazing treasures from the past.

Family time

Friday, February 12, is an educational day at the Yvonne L. Bombardier Library. There will be a special program geared to kids aged 3 to 7 - a story telling period from 10am-1 :30pm (l’Heure du conte) during which children can listen to a tale entitled La chose la plus douloureuse du monde (The most most painful thing in the world). Families can also visit (free of charge) Fusion by Aristide Gagnon, an art exhibition at the Yvonne L. Bombardier Cultural Centre. Afterwards, take advantage of this picturesque location by donning your skates and enjoying the fresh air.
